When you have a bad day…

Hi there,

I hope you’re doing well.

Even the happiest, most successful, richest, smartest people have bad days, right? We have them when there is an international pandemic going on and we have them when the world is trundling along as ‘normal’. What do you do when you have one? I like to listen to/make some music, talk to friends, drink red wine and eat Nutella.

I had a day recently when lots of little things went wrong. I had a couple of run-ins with our local council for a start, culminating in a threat to cancel my driving licence (and none of it was my fault, truly!). Then all the technology I tried to use, from my laptop to my recording set up to my harmony pedal, just sat and glared at me, arms across chests and refused to cooperate.

Then I attempted to sing a song on my regular Livestream and not only did the technology fail, but my voice broke like a teenage boy’s! Now I know all of of these things are drops in the ocean of the issues that the world is dealing with now, but they are frustrating nevertheless.

I thought about editing my Livestream song before I reposted the video on YouTube. I thought about redoing it the way it’s meant to be, the way I wanted it to sound. But that Livestream is meant to be part of a video diary of my life – and life just can’t be edited!

I also thought that knowing you’re not the only person having ‘one of those days’ is quite comforting, and a trouble shared is a trouble halved. So let’s hope my little video diary this week is good for some of that! Here it is: https://youtu.be/QsiRtGtWq9w

I always love hearing from you, so please do get in touch – tell me how you make yourself feel better. Does it involve chocolate?

I hope your slice of the world is treating you kindly,

All the best,

Amanda
