Breaking out from these four walls…

Hi there,

I hope you’re doing well.

After 10 weeks in full isolation, my little family busted out and went to a (deserted) park yesterday, for a bit of fun with the cricket set. Sunny day, clear skies – heaven.

But would I be a terrible person if I admitted that I have really been enjoying isolation? The impetus for isolation is no less than catastrophic – the loss of lives and decimation of economies caused by Covid is heartbreaking. But…the time I’ve spent with my family in our little house…I’ve actually loved it. Depending on what happens in the next week or so, we will decide to venture out more. Either way, I hope the new well of creativity that has sprung, will continue.

With Australia really easing restrictions now and people organising real-life get togethers, I am suffering some FOMO (fear of missing out), but I also have to admit to some fear. Is the country opening up too soon? Will there be a worse, second wave? When you’re part of a family with ‘underlying health issues’ it brings out the protector in you. But then nobody wants to live in fear and you do get used to living with a bit of extra worry as a parent don’t you?

June 20 will be a big one for me – it’s the date I have committed to definitely walking out my front door. I am doing a live stream concert in a studio a few suburbs away with the First Ladies of Soul. I’m very excited but of course nervous to see how the world beyond my doorstep looks by then.

I talk about that show and do a couple of tunes with my beloved harmony pedal (TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2) in my latest video diaries, below: https://youtu.be/iTI09MEuIko

As usual, I always love seeing your comments so please don’t hesitate to drop me a line if you feel like a chat or even a vent!

I hope your slice of the world is treating you kindly,

All the best,

Amanda
